Saving Money on Ireland Auto Rentals

When you're on vacation, you will look for any opportunity to save money.  after all, plane tickets alone can cost more than one thousand dollars each when you travel from America to Europe and back.  Because of this, you need to find

ways to save money in all aspects of your trip once you land.  If you are planning a vacation to Ireland, one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, then you will need to work on your budget.  One of the ways that people spend a lot of money is by renting a car.  While this can be expensive, you don't have to pay so much.  There are many ways that you can save money when you get a car rental in Ireland.

There are many fees that you'll have to pay when you rent a car in Ireland.  Some are mandatory while others are optional.  To save as much money as you can, you may want to forgo some or all of these optional fees.  One of the more expensive options is car rental insurance.  This is known as a Collision Damage Waiver, or CDW for short.  This protects against certain things that may happen to the car.  Not only will you have to pay a daily fee for this, but you may even have to pay a large deductible just in case something does happen.  If you want, you can forgo this fee.  Keep in mind that you won't be protected if you do.  You may want to protect yourself and pay for this fee anyway.

There is one kind of insurance that is mandatory.  Anyone who gets a car rental in Ireland needs to get this insurance.  Luckily, it's free.  It's called Third Party Liability Insurance.  It covers you just in case you cause any damage to people or property while driving the car.  This comes standard with all rentals, so you have an added piece of mind when you drive.  This is especially helpful since driving in Ireland can be confusing when you aren't used to driving a car on the left hand side of the street.

Some fees come in the way of taxes.  One such tax is the road tax.  This is mandatory and is best on how many days you rent the car.  Although this tax can vary, it usually averages out to around $1.50 per day.  Luckily, this isn't a lot of money in the grand scheme of things.  One way you can avoid a fee is by staying in Ireland.  Technically, the island that Ireland is on is home to two different countries; Ireland and Northern Ireland.  Ireland is its own country while Northern Ireland is a part of Great Britain.  If you want to go to Northern Ireland, you will have to pay a fee to your rental car company.  This varies from 25 to 30 dollars.  This may sway your decision on whether or not you want to visit Northern Ireland.

Rental prices in vary in general from company to company.  Because of this, you should do as much research as possible before you start your trip.  You can usually find the best prices by renting your car online ahead of time.  You should also compare at least five different companies in order to find the best deal.  Before choosing a company, look at the fine print, though.  You want to be able to find not only the best deal, but the best plan as well.  if you do the proper research, you will no doubt find a great rental car in Ireland that won't set you too far back on vacation expenses.
